5上帝在其中,城必不动摇;
6万邦喧嚷,国度动摇;

9他止息战争,直到地极;

Today's Bible Reading

  • PSALM 46

God Is Our Fortress

1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

Selah

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Devotional and Prayer

There are three words that have changed my life—GOD is here!

I love thinking about the presence of GOD. Not some lame, meh, shrug-your-shoulders higher power (that’s why I left the caps lock on). I’m talking about the GOD who’s better than a cure for Coronavirus, better than a restriction-free world, better than a four-figure stimulus check from the government. As much work as it can be, I try to force my brain to remember that GOD, by his very nature, is better than the best this life has to offer.

Even better—that glorious GOD is right here with us in this moment.

The Sons of Korah rejoiced and resolved: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, ...” (Psalm 46:1-2) Why don’t we need to fear? Because GOD is an “ever-present help in trouble.” He is forever at our side, always present as we deal with the uncertainties of tomorrow.

Could we get sick? Sure. Could this weird new world drag out for months? It could. Could life be significantly different when this virus is finally cured? It could and probably will.

If that makes you afraid, remember GOD. Even in your worst-case scenario, GOD will still be with you. That’s the rock-solid blessing that Jesus died and rose to make yours, today and forever. So picture him in your room. Close your eyes and see his smiling face (Numbers 6:24-26). Envision the best blessing, and then say out loud, “But GOD is even better.” Then whisper, “And GOD is here.”

Heaven is heaven because you get to be with GOD. Thankfully, being with GOD doesn’t have to wait. He’s present even now. Therefore, you don’t have to fear this little virus or that big challenge you’re facing in life.

If guiding us to a fearless life is GOD’s plan, it will prove, in just one more way, that Christ > Corona.
