我们为主做见证的最有力工具，或许就是“以德服人”。彼得言简意赅地在彼得前书2:12里解释说，上帝使我们的人生发生了如此翻天覆地的改变，因此我们应在生活中做到，即使有人憎恨或试图毁谤我们，我们还是以善行回应他们，而且我们的善行要指引他们认识上帝。不论我们喜欢与否，我们的言行都会在人的面前直接影响到上帝的声誉。我们要好好地代表上帝。

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Maybe the most powerful tool we have for witnessing is this ‘earning the right to talk.’ Peter explains it briefly here – we ought to live lives that are so changed by God that, even though they may hate you, if they had to try to come up with something terrible about you, all they’re met with is your good deeds and how that points to God. Whether we like it or not, we affect God’s reputation amongst men. Represent God well.

With every action today, consider how it affects God’s reputation – we are always on display to those who don’t know Jesus.
