为了要帮助信徒灵命长大成熟，保罗在最后两章特别从「圣洁」与「盼望」这两方面提醒帖撒罗尼迦教会。 「基督再来」的盼望是新约圣经的关键主题之一，总共提到三百多次。

保罗明确地对帖撒罗尼迦教会说，不要为去世的人忧伤，「像那些没有指望的人一样」（4:13）。因为当基督再来，已经去世的基督徒将首先复活，还存活的基督徒随后也要跟他们一同被提到云里，在空中与荣耀的主相会。

「圣洁」与「盼望」是高度相关的，因着对耶稣基督再来的盼望，我们过圣洁的生活预备自己迎接圣洁的主。耶稣再来的日子「不会像贼一样」临到我们，因为我们是光明之子，以圣洁为装饰警醒等候耶稣再来。但对于那些不警醒等候、活在黑暗中的人，耶稣的再来对他们而言「会像贼在夜间突然来到一样」，因为他们毫无准备。 （5:1-11）

但愿我们都能以圣洁为装饰，热切盼望等候我们的主基督耶稣再来。

In order to help believers mature in their spiritual lives, Paul reminded the Thessalonian church in particular about "holiness" and "hope" in the last two chapters. The hope of "Christ's second coming" is one of the key themes of the New Testament, mentioned over three hundred times.

Paul explicitly told the Thessalonian church not to grieve for those who are asleep "like people who have no hope" (4:13, NLT). Because when Christ comes again, the Christians who have died will be resurrected first, and those who are still alive will also be caught up together with them into the clouds and meet the glorious Lord in the air.

"Holiness" and "hope" are highly related. With the hope of Jesus Christ's second coming, we live a holy life to prepare ourselves to welcome the Holy Lord. The day of Jesus' second coming will not come like a thief to us, because we are children of light, watching and waiting for Jesus' second coming with holiness as our adornment. But for those who are not watchful and living in darkness, Jesus' second coming will come like a thief in the night, because they are unprepared. (5:1-11)

May we all be adorned with holiness, eagerly waiting for our Lord Jesus Christ's second coming.
