保罗一行人在帖撒罗尼迦传福音时遭受了许多的患难，为此他特别挂念自己辛苦收成的福音果实。他担心帖撒罗尼迦教会的信徒会被这些患难动摇，或被不符合真理的教导诱惑而离弃真道，因此保罗两次说他「不能再忍」（3:1-5），「昼夜切切祈求要见你们的面」。保罗深知「见面」的重要性，因为面对面能「补足你们信心的不足」。 （3:10）

基督徒如何能胜过患难与诱惑？单打独斗不能胜过，而且一个人独处的时候更是容易被患难与诱惑所胜。基督徒彼此之间必需要渴望见面，常常见面，才能彼此鼓励，补足彼此信心的不足。

看看周围的朋友，是否有人在患难与试探之中呢？如果你去与他们「见面」，用上帝的话鼓励他们，为他们祷告，不只他们的信心会得坚固，你的信心也会更加坚固。

When Paul and his companions were preaching the gospel in Thessalonica, they encountered many difficulties. Because of this, Paul was especially concerned about the fruits of his labour in spreading the gospel there. He was worried that the believers in the Thessalonian church would be shaken by these difficulties or tempted by false teachings to abandon the truth.

Therefore, Paul twice said that he "could not bear it no longer" (3:1-5) and prayed earnestly day and night to see them again. Paul knew the importance of meeting face to face because being together in person could "supply what is lacking in your faith" (3:10).

How can Christians overcome difficulties and temptations? They cannot do it alone, and it is even easier to be overcome by difficulties and temptations when they are alone. Christians need to long to meet each other and meet often to encourage each other and make up for each other's shortcomings in faith.

Look around at your friends; is anyone going through difficulties and temptations? If you go to meet them “face to face”, encourage them with God's words, and pray for them, not only will their faith be strengthened, but yours will also be strengthened.
