Day 15 - Romans 15

Starting from chapter 14 of Romans, Paul writes the final purpose of this letter. He hopes that the Jews and Gentiles in the Roman church can "accept one another." Paul uses the terms "weak in faith" and "strong in faith" to describe the two groups in the church, and he says what they need is to "be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus." (NKJV)

In a group, two different groups often want to "assimilate each other” to make the other group like themselves. Many small actions come from here to make our side become a strong majority.

Paul hopes that the two different groups in the Roman church can "be like-minded toward one another" instead of "assimilating each other.” Being like-minded and assimilation are different; being like-minded is aimed at glorifying God, while assimilation is aimed at fulfilling oneself. Being like-minded means that even if there are differences, we may still "with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Assimilation is only seeking one's own pleasure and disregarding others' weaknesses.

When the two parties of "weak in faith" and "strong in faith" do not attempt to assimilate each other but accept one another, the result is "glory to God." Otherwise, what we do is only taking away God's glory to assimilate each other.
